Andor, this year, has been through many changes from introducing a fresh modern look to the logo, to enhanced products, process and systems. Here is an overview on the year that was, catching you up on anything you may have missed at Andor.
We started this year off with a Business Leadership Breakfast with Phil Baker and learnt leadership lessons, extreme effort & extreme discipline to gain extreme leadership, a great way to start the year. This year we held regular lunchbox sessions to ensure we kept you up to date in the latest in IT and business solutions available, covering a range of topics from Managed Services, to Document Management and to Disaster Recovery. 'Going Green' has been a continuous focus for this year and so we attended and participated in Envirotech. This event was all about company's coming together in the Hunter, showing how we can do business with a greener approach, something Andor is continuously striving for.
Andor Expo 2009 also marked a significant event for Andor's IT calendar with Expo 2009 'Simplify Your IT'. Expo featured end-to-end solutions with all of the technology presented and exhibited focusing on how Andor can offer you an all encompassing solution and in turn Simplify your IT. Another significant event for Andor was the launch of Managed Services. A service providing business with an enhanced level of confidence in their IT systems by providing ongoing support for all network operations.

The realities of massive generational change have dawned on many business leaders. What's next? And where do we go from here?
Generation's are shaped in part by the technologies that have sculpted culture and social interaction as they grew up. The 'Baby Boomer' generation saw the first microwave, television, radio and the first mega computers. 'Gen X' saw the beginning of mobile phones, laptops, the introduction of the World Wide Web and the first interactive computer games and game consoles. 'Gen Y' have seen the rise of social networking sites, increased internet speed and usage, MP3 players and have seen computer technology move from the desktop/laptop to a wide range of portable devices, with technology moving faster than prior generations would have dreamed. It is amazing to reflect not only on the year past but how far technology and communications have come in the last decade and how it has affected our nation's generations. What did we ever do without personal devices? And how did we communicate with everyone in our lives on a daily basis both personally and professionally? Technology has completely revolutionised the way we not only interact with each other, but also how we do business. It has added convenience, speed and the opportunity to have access to a wealth of information at the click of the mouse. We now have immediate access to client's suppliers and internal staff members. Gone are the days of waiting for a response. |
The notable fascination about today's society is that every generation has embraced some form of technology. Whether it is mobile phones, the internet, social network sites, or even simple computer applications, communication via a technology based product, is by many, considered to be the standard form of communication. A key indicator of this is the fact that 1 in every 2 Australians use social networking sites. It has certainly been a decade full of new products offering new ways to communicate and purchase products and services, a first for any individual to see their house from a satellite view. We can now access the internet far more quickly, with internet access being doubled in the last ten years. The total number of homes in and businesses in 2000 with broadband was around 80,000, today it is more than 7 million. So we are coming to the end of another decade, think back on how far technology has come and to what level it has increased convenience in our daily lives. How will the next generation be further affected when we realise we are in for an either bigger decade regarding technology than the last.
