We keep an eye on your network so you don't have to -
According to Jeff Wilson of Infonetics Research, network outages cost an average 3.6% of annual revenue. For SMB's, as well as large organisations, this downtime can represent a significant loss and in some cases businesses will not survive in the long-tem from ongoing failures that could have been rectified before they reached critical stage.
Remember the good old days when you had a simple network that was typically in one location, used plain old servers and routers, you didn't have to worry about spam or malware intrusions and, more often than not, you could pinpoint a technical issue reasonably quickly because there were fewer devices or hardware to worry about?
Unfortunately, those times are long gone as there is now a lot more IT equipment and complex systems to work with. This is due to networks evolving significantly over the years with new technologies, devices and strategies such as virtualisation and services oriented architectures. No longer can we assume what has worked for IT systems in past will work today. There is now a need to include new IT elements such as end-point security, mobile devices, email archiving and content filtering, as well as software compliance to the existing list of actions for the IT department or outsourced provider to maintain and service.

Networks are at the heart of any small to medium business or enterprise and have a direct impact on various business operations. Therefore, the health of your network is key to your business success. Also, as businesses increase their reliance on networks for communications, the importance of ensuring the effectiveness and performance levels is crucial.
Network monitoring tools play an integral part in supporting your business and will enable your IT support to identify dangers or potential threats that can lead to network downtime. Many businesses have already turned to intelligent network management and monitoring tools to understand and manage their network infrastructures and in turn keep their business running smoothly.
Traditionally network monitoring tools would track the degree of availability of storage and utilisation of server CPU's and network traffic. This is still the case, but now you can now be updated on the status of your entire network including remote devices, in real-time, without the necessity to watch or maintain it personally. These monitoring capabilities allow for timely action required to minimise downtime and, when necessary, quickly correct problems. The opportunity exists to rectify technical issues before they reach critical stage, in turn reducing the costs associated with downtime and interruptions to staff.
Talk to your Andor Account Manager today to find out how monitoring can benefit your network. |

'C3 Victory has a fairly strong requirement on its IT Network infrastructure. Originally our IT support was being conducted on-site but we reached a stage where it was deemed necessary that our IT support be outsourced to a local provider to free up our staff's time. When looking for a local provider, we needed someone that understood our current environment, could carry out regular maintenance on our servers and provide end user support when required. We chose Andor Systems on the basis of their support options and their ability to support our greater C3 network, not just C3 Victory. After two years since originally engaging with Andor, C3 Victory still enjoys dealing with Andor Systems.
I have no hesitation in recommending Andor Systems to anyone looking for a quality based IT service provider.'

PRODUCT FOCUS FOR THE MONTH

Top 5 reasons to monitor your network:
1. Be informed of network performance and status in real time
2. Know when and how to apply a disaster recovery plan
3. Diagnose problems quickly
4. Plan for upgrades or changes
5. Reduce downtime and get the best from your network
The following describes some of the key types of network status information you need to know at any time of the day every day.
All critical network devices
The whole network does not have to go down to cause a negative impact to staff and operations. The necessity to monitor all critical network devices is vital to ensure you have minimal interruptions to your network. This includes emails, internet access or access to network drivers and operating systems applications.
Servers - Storage and memory
- Monitor the overall health and performance of servers
- Check and monitor the amount of disk space available servers as well as applications that require greater dick capacity.
- Monitor the average memory and processor utilisation of key CPU's
Operating Systems (O/S)
- Monitor multiple operating systems including Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange.
- Track and proactively address application and operating system failures as well as discover necessary patch management requirements for compliance.
Switches and Routers
- Monitor the amount of traffic coming in and out of routers.
- Monitor the health of routers and switches, including available bandwidth
- Monitor firewalls, antivirus protection and spyware/malware defences to ensure all the nasties are kept out of your systems and your network is effectively guarded
Printers
Monitoring printers allows you to discover when printers are malfunctioning, require toner or even simple errors before the users notice.
